Ingrid was born in the beautiful mountain-surrounded Columbia Valley of British Columbia and currently resides in rural Calgary. The love of art seems always to have been with her but, coming from a small, rural community, art instruction was not available. Throughout Ingrid’s junior and senior high school years, however, she pursued her art through correspondence courses. Over the years, while raising a family, she completed several art programs focusing on landscapes. In later years, Ingrid found her greatest interest was painting in watercolour and time arrived which allowed her opportunities to express her creativity. Ingrid is self-taught to a large extent and has recently started to experiment with oil and acrylics. She does, however, continue to expand her knowledge by taking workshops from well-known instructors, (Arnie Westerman, Brian Atyeo, Brent Leycock, Doug Swinton, Jerry Markham. ) She attended the Watercolour Symposium at the University of Calgary in 2006 taking one-day classes with Ray Cattell, Larry Cromwell, Tim Packer, Karin Richter and Robert Sinclair.

Ingrid was accepted into the Calgary Sketch Club in 2002 and served as their Show Chairperson for four years handling four major shows every year and continues to organize the Club’s participation in numerous community activities. She also was the Exhibition Chair for the Calgary Sketch Club’s 2009 Centennial Celebrations and Shows and is currently the Club Historian. She is co-founder and member of the recently formed Airdrie Regional Arts Society (ARTS) and a member of the Leighton Art Centre, the Irricana Artists’ Co-op, and the Interpretations Artists’ Association. Her work has been accepted for juried and other shows on a regular basis. Additionally, she participates in smaller shows when invited (Airdrie, Parkdale Community, Hillhurst Sunnyside Community, Calgary Winter Club, Retired Teachers. In 2006, The Gallery in Airdrie hosted a solo show for her. She was accepted into the Calgary Stampede Western Art Auction in 2010 and the Western Art Gallery in 2010 and 2011.

In 2011, the Calgary Sketch Club awarded Ingrid with the Ernest Lamm Spring Camp Award and in 2007, the G. O. Jones trophy for the best fall camp painting as well as the Big Four Service Award for outstanding service to the Club.

Ingrid loves to paint plein air when possible taking advantage of art camps in the spring and fall and going on site over the summer months with fellow artists. She enjoys painting rural landscapes; her British Columbia roots continue to beckon her to the majesty of the mountains.
