Van Der Merwe, Anita

Born: 1958 Pretoria

A painter of figures, wildlife and abstract pictures.  Works in mixed media. 

Studies: 1978-79 Pretoria Technical College, gaining a Diploma in Graphic Design. 

Profile: A member of the SAAA.  1983 produced a ten minute children’s programme for Anglia Television, UK.  1985 illustrations for Excellence magazine.  A trained actress and film director.  1982 lived with and studied the Bushmen in the Central Kalahari Desert.

Exhibitions: She has participated in several group exhibitions in SA from 1980; 1983 Rembrandt Gallery, Johannesburg, first

of two solo exhibitions; 1986 Everard Read Gallery, Johannesburg, joint exhibition

with Arlene Amaler-Raviv and Karin Dando.   

Award:  1980 First Prize for Drawing,

New Signatures, SAAA.
