Theron, Guillaume

Guillaume Theron was born in 1947 in Pieretsburg, Northern Transvaal

 

He is a sculptor of figures and abstract pieces. He Works in stone, cement fondu, wood, concrete, stainless steel and chrome resin.

 

Studies

1963-67 Pretoria Technical College, under Gunther van der Reis, Eugene-Leon Bouffa and Koos den Houten, gaining a National Doploma in Art and Design.

 

Profile

- A member of the SAAA.

- 1980-81 conducted an art school in Pietersburg.

- From 1985 has designed handknotted, painted, fibre wall     hangings.

- 1974 spent three months in Paris.

- 1974 toured Scandinavia, Europe, Turkey, Israel and the      Middle East.

 

Exhibitions

- Participated in many group exhibitions from 1967 in SA

  and in a graphic exhibition in the USA.

- 1973 SAAA Gallery, Pretoria, first of 14 solo exhibitions.

- 1981 Republic Festival Exhibition.

 

Public Commissions

- 1968 - three wood relief panels, Jan Smuts Airport,

  Johannesburg.

- 1971 wood relief, Civitas Building, Pretoria.

- 1971 three wood panels Information Bureau, Pietersburg.
