Msimangu, Sipho

Msimango was born in old Germiston, in the country region of Transvaal in Southern Africa. When he was 2 years old his family was forcibly removed to Natalspruit, now known as Katlehong. While at high school, Msimango met Derick Zulu, an art teacher who inspired him to study art.

After high school, Msimango studied Fine Art at the Katlehong Art Center School. In 1979, he began teaching art at the very same school he attended. Three years later he accepted a post at the South Africa Broadcasting Corporation as a graphic artist.

In 1986 he moved to Bophuthatswana to tutor in Art and Crafts at the Muabana Cultural Centre. He returned to Johannesburg in 1989 to concentrate on workshops. A dedicated artist, Msimango is also motivated to share his knowledge with fellow African artists.
