MABASO, DUMISANI

Mabaso, Dumisane 

Born: 1955 Soweto, Johannesburg.

A graphic artist producing etchings

of figures.  Paints abstract pictures,

using acrylic.

Studies: 1975-78 Rorke’s Drift Art Centre, Natal; 1981 Witwatersrand Technikon.

Profile: 1978-79 lectured at the Mofolo

Art Centre, Soweto.  1980 Head of FUBA,

later a part time teacher there.

Exhibitions: He has participated in

group exhibitions during the 1980’s in Johannesburg and Pretoria and in the USA, France and Sweden; exhibits his work at the Johannesburg Art Foundation; 1982 National Gallery, Gaborone, Botswana, Exhibition of SA Art; 1985 Tributaries, touring SA and West Germany; 1987 Johannesburg Art Foundation, joint exhibition with Bill Ainslie, David Koloane, Tony Nkotsi and Anthusa Sotiriades.

Award: Won a USSALEP award to work

in the 1986 New York Triangle Workshop

Represented: Johannesburg Art Gallery
