Langdown, Amos 

Born: 1930 Plettenberg Bap, Cape Province

A graphic artist and painter of landscapes, town scenes, genre and figures.  Produces lithographs, woodcuts, etchings, drypoints, monotypes and copper engravings as well

as paintings in oil.

Studies: 1961 privately with Katrine Harries; 1962-63 on a Government Scholarship at the Rijks Academy, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, under Professor Kuno Brinks, Jan Forrer and Ru van Rossem.

Profile: 1953 an art master at the Athlone Training School, Paarl; 1972 Inspector of Arts for the Cape.  Has illustrated several books and in 1970 made a three month study tour

of the USA.

Exhibitions: He has participated in group exhibitions from the 1950’s in West Germany, Italy, the USA and in SA; 1960 Cape Town, first of many solo exhibitions.
