Ka-Mkame, Sfiso

Date of Birth: 1963,
Place of Birth: Pinetown, KwaZulu Natal

He lives in the Clermont area and produces his works from his Cator Manor Studio which he shares with Zamani Mkhanya, Paul Sibisi and Lindelani Ngwenya. He

is mainly a self taught artist who began practicing in the 1980s.


Sifiso has also been actively involved in Various Community Workshops particularly the The Thupelo Workshops initiated by David Koloane and Bill Ainslie in Johannesburg in the mid 1980s.

His popular works of the 1980s titled ‘love letters’ depicted struggle and protest themes directed to the apartheid regime  in South Africa. His work is often executed in oil pastel colours which are layered to create texture and tone therefore accentuating the subject dipicted.
