"Gudeon's intensely bright, detailed illustrations float and soar through the pages. An exhuberant delight" Starred-Kirkus Review of "Hanukkah Haiku"

Karla is the illustrator of "Passover, Celebrating Now, Remembering Then" (2010), "One Red Apple" (2009) and "Hanukkah Haiku" (2008) for Blue Apple Books. She has always dreamed of a life as an illustrator. Before she was born, her parents searched for a name for her beginning with the letter "k." Upon discovering children''s books by Karla Kuskin, they decided upon the name "Karla." She loves the serendipity of having entered the field of her namesake.

Karla's heart leaps when she realizes that she brings children smiles, joy, and warmth via children's books. In the big picture, Karla hopes her writing and illustrations guide kids towards embracing a sense of belonging to a great world community with true goodness throughout.

Karla entered her family's artistic and musical world in the Bronx, NY 1961. Her BFA is from Parsons School of Design and she has her masters in education. Karla taught elementary school for 14 years prior to pursuing her art fulltime. Karla lives with her supportive husband and two amusing sons in Smithtown, NY.
