Eloff, Zacharias

Eloff, Zacharias (Zakkie)
Born: 1925 Waterberg District, SWA/Namibia

A painter and graphic artist of wildlife.  Works in oil, watercolour, ink, wash, monotype and etching.

Studies: Pretoria Boys High School under Walter Battis; Witwatersrand Technical College under Maurice van Essche, James Gardner and Phyllis Gardner; 1957 graphic techniques at the Central School of Art, London; etching under Dolf Rieser.

Profile: 1958-62 taught at Pretoria Technical College and 1961-62 for the University

of Pretoria.  He has illustrated various books.  1962-68 worked as a Game Ranger in

the Etosha Game Reserve, SWA/Namibia.  From 1969 he has lived and worked in the Eastern Transvaal Lowveld. 

Married to Rene Eloff

Exhibitions: He has participated in group exhibitions from 1942 in SWA/Namibia, SA, the UK, Spain, Israel, Argentina, Australia

and at Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1961; 1953 Pretoria, first of several solo exhibitions;

1987 University of Pretoria, joint Retrospective Exhibition with Rene Eloff.
