A painter of landscapes, seascapes and figures.  Works in oil, acrylic, tempera and mixed mida.

Studies: c. 1944 Witwatersrand Technical

College under Maurice van Essche.

Profile: Lives in Florida, Transvaal

Exhibitions: He has participated in numerous group exhibitions from 1946; 1947 Bothner’s Gallery, Cape Town, first of numerous solo exhibitions held in SA; 1956, 1960 and 1964 Quadrennial Exhibitions; 1981 Republic Festival Exhibition.

Award: 1949 jointly with Johannes Meintjes, winner of Die Vaderland’s Award for the Most Original SA Work of Art.

Represented: Hester Rupert Art Museum,

Graaff-Reinet; Indianapolis Art Gallery, USA; National Gallery, Harare, Zimbabwe; Pretoria Art Museum; Roodepoort City Council;

University of the Witwatersrand.
